UpMenu has built one of the broadest toolkits for restaurants that want to sell directly. Founded in 2012, it has grown into a modular platform: a commission-free ordering storefront on your own website, a branded iOS and Android app, delivery with third-party couriers, a QR code menu with ordering and payment at the table, reservations, loyalty, and marketing tools. If your goal is to pull delivery and pickup orders away from the marketplaces, UpMenu is a serious and fairly priced option.

Vino (vino-smart.com) starts from the other end of the meal: the guest sitting at the table. It is a smart digital menu with table service built in, so guests scan, browse a designed menu in their own language, order, call a waiter, and ask for the bill, while you run everything from one dashboard. This page puts the two side by side, fairly, so you can tell which one matches the restaurant you run.

A quick note on sourcing: every UpMenu detail below reflects UpMenu's publicly listed pricing, product pages, and help center as of October 2026. UpMenu prices each module per location, so your real bill depends on the modules you pick. Pricing can change without notice, so check UpMenu's own site before you decide.

Pricing

UpMenu's pricing is modular. As of October 2026 you pick at least one core module and add others per location. Web Ordering costs $49 a month for up to 75 orders, $89 for up to 210, and $169 for unlimited orders, and if you choose to keep accepting orders past your limit, each extra one costs $1.90. Its QR code menu page lists the QR menu at $49 a month per location, and other modules include Tableside Ordering at $19, Reservations at $9, Loyalty at $19, and a branded Mobile App at $49, all per location per month and before VAT. There are no contracts or setup fees, a 7-day free trial without a card, and a free set-up service where UpMenu builds your menu for you. There is no free plan, and the FAQ says plainly that UpMenu does not offer refunds.

Vino's plans are flat: Free at $0, Pro at $29 a month, Business at $79, and Studio at $99.90, billed monthly through Paddle with no contract. The free plan covers one location with up to 25 menu items. Pro adds the full table service suite, and Business adds the AI tools, online reservations, POS and printer integrations, and three locations ($19 a month for each extra one). Vino never takes a commission or a per-order fee. See Vino pricing for the full breakdown. The honest gap is scope: UpMenu's modules cover delivery, pickup, apps, and marketing that Vino does not offer, so compare the modules you would actually buy.

Ordering and paying at the table

This is where the two overlap most. UpMenu's QR code menu lets guests browse, order, and pay from their phone at the table, and its pay at the table feature splits checks by item, seat, or number of people, offers tip options, and accepts cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Table orders land in the same dashboard as website and delivery orders, and payments sync with your POS. For a restaurant that wants guests to settle up without waiting for the card machine, that is a real strength.

Vino's table service is included on Pro. You map your zones and tables on a floor plan and print a QR code for each table, so every order arrives tied to the right seat. Guests order without an app, call a waiter or ask for the bill with one tap, and your team sees every order, call, and bill request on a live service board while the kitchen printer turns orders into branded tickets. On Business, signed order webhooks can push table orders to your POS or printer. Vino's table service ends with a bill request: guests pay the way they do today, through your own payment setup, and Vino never touches your revenue.

UpMenu offers more than 40 menu templates and multi-language websites, and its ordering interface covers languages from English and Polish to German, French, and Arabic. Translations of your own menu are typed in by hand, though: UpMenu's help center says the menu and other content you enter are not translated automatically. UpMenu does not advertise an AI menu scan or AI food photos.

Vino is built around the menu itself. You can publish your menu in up to 9 languages on any plan, including Hebrew and Arabic laid out right to left, and Business adds one-click AI translation that fills every enabled language when you save. Business also brings AI menu scan (upload a photo or PDF of your printed menu and review the extracted items), menu import from a Wolt page or a website link, and AI tools that enhance your food photos or generate new ones. Analytics show menu views, most-viewed dishes, busy hours, devices, and languages, and a design studio lets you match the menu to your brand. The features page has the full list, and our guide to translating a restaurant menu with AI covers the language side.

Who should choose which

Choose UpMenu if most of your growth happens off the premises: commission-free delivery and pickup from your own website, a branded app, courier dispatch, loyalty, and marketing, with table ordering and payment as part of the same system. Its modular pricing lets you start with one module and add more later, and the free set-up service takes the building off your hands.

Choose Vino if your guests mostly sit down. You get a designed menu in up to 9 languages, plus ordering, waiter calls, and bill requests from the table on Pro at $29 a month, reservations and POS integrations on Business, and a free plan to start on, with a 14-day trial of Pro or Business and no commission or contract. If you also want delivery and pickup later, the two can run side by side: UpMenu for the online storefront, Vino for the dining room.

With Vino's Pro plan, guests order from the table, call a waiter, and request the bill from their phone, and the bill is paid through your own payment setup. If paying inside the menu is a must, UpMenu covers it today.

Can UpMenu or Vino translate my menu automatically?+

Does Vino take delivery and pickup orders like UpMenu?+

Not today. Vino focuses on the dine-in menu and table service, and delivery and pickup ordering has not launched yet. UpMenu already offers commission-free ordering from your website and branded app, delivery with third-party couriers, and marketplace integrations, so it is the stronger choice if off-premise orders drive your business.
